ABSTRACT: In the last years there has been an increasing number on woody species in our parks and gardens. As a consequence of the increment in the standard of life of the population, there is a higher demand on ornamentals. From the phytosanitary point of view, due to international plant exchange, new pathogens (diseases and/or pests) are being introduced. In most cases the antagonist is not found naturally in these areas, and thus plants are not protected against the pathogen. As an example we can mention the insects Gonipterus scutellatus, Phoracantha semipunctata, Ctenarytaina eucalyptii and Ctenarytaina spatulata on Eucalyptus spp.; Ciborinia camelliae or Phytophthora ramorum on Camellia or Fusarium circinatum on some conifers. Some of these pathogens are regarded as quarantine pathogens in the EU and its detection implies commercial and exportation restrictions on plant and propagation material.

Key words: EPPO, control, plant pathogenic agents.
