PHYTOSANITARY WARNING

GRAPEVINE Phenological stage - Separated cluster
Mildew:Ver Fotos

We detected the first spot in two different monitoring plots in O Salnés, particularly in Castrelo and A Modia sites. In other areas, (different from O Rosal and Tremoedo) first symptoms were not observed yet. In fact, adequate optimum conditions for disease development did not take place so far, but next week it is expected a change in the weather conditions that could favour spot occurrence. If the grapevine is not already protected by a previous treatment, it must be treated before precipitations take place, since the plant is near the blooming stage, a period when the plant is more sensitive to the disease.

Oidium:Ver Fotos

First symptoms of the disease were not observed so far. It is not necessary to treat yet.

Moths:Ver Fotos

The number of moths captured has still been high, although the flight peak of the first generation had already taken place and the number of captured males was lower than in the previous week. Since symptoms were not observed so far, plants must not be treated.

Mites:

In spite of the high temperatures recorded during these days, first colonies did not appear yet. Acaricides should not be applied, unless the occurrence of these arthropods is confirmed.

APPLE TREE
Cydia pomonella:

The number of insects collected per trap has reached the threshold of tolerance, thus it is necessary to treat.

Aphids:

The first colonies of the green apple aphid were detected on shoots. The aphid does not affect fruit development, thus it is not necessary to treat. However, in some trees a large amount of rosy apple aphids that can cause fruit deformation were observed. In this case, it is advised to apply an aphicide (or, if we are using an insecticide against Cydia, we can apply a product effective against both pests).

QUINCE TREE
Oidium:

First symptoms of the disease were reported this week. Since they were widespread, it is necessary to treat.

CAMELIA
Chloropulvinaria floccifera:

First colonies of the insect are occurring in camellias planted all around the province. An insecticide must be applied to avoid plant weakening and the implementation of sooty mold in the honeydew secreted by the insect.
