PHYTOSANITARY WARNING

05/01/2009

FRUIT TREES
Winter treatments:

In our area, winter treatments with cupric based products are strongly advised to reduce the incidence of some pathogens in the next plant stages. These treatments must be applied in every deciduous fruit tree, but mainly to old, or/and affected by scab, canker in pip fruit trees, and shothole disease or monilia in stone fruit trees. A treatment can be applied now and other before spring (always with dry weather and temperatures not very low), wetting completely the whole plant. In case pruning is performed now, we should treat later.

If apart from fungal pathologies in the previous year, we observe insects or mites, we can add to the cupric based product oil supplemented with insecticide. In this case, before applying, we should inform about the viability of the mixture, because these products could be incompatible and/or phytotoxic to the plants.

GRAPEVINE
Wood rot diseases:

In last warnings we have recommended the identification of these diseases by analysis, in the plants previously marked in summer. In case the disease is confirmed, and as we have mentioned in previous warnings, pruning should be carefully performed as later as possible.

No curative treatments have been reported, but a treatment with cubiet could be applied, from pruning time and until 10 days later or with quinosol immediately after pruning.

DEVICES TO APPLY PHYTOSANITARY PRODUCTS
Maintenance:

This is the right moment to tune up the machines used to apply phytosanitary products.
