PHYTOSANITARY WARNING
22/05/2009
GRAPEVINE Phenological stage: flowers
separated |
Mildew: |
Along
this week we did not observe new symptoms of the disease in our monitoring
plots. In fact, this year the level of damage caused by the pathogen has been
low, and even in neglected and abandoned grapevines it is hard to find a spot.
Anyway, grapevines should be intensively monitored given the
environmental conditions occurring during these days and since in this stage
inflorescences are highly sensitive to the disease.
|
Oidium: |
Symptoms
were not observed so far. It is not necessary to treat, but an
eye must be kept on the plants, since climatic conditions occurring during
these days favor the development of the pathogen (mild temperatures, locally
persistent mist, and high moisture).
|
Moths: |
During
these days moths captured did not follow a constant pattern: whereas some plots
registered more moths, in others the number of moths collected decreased. We
did not observe any signs of larval activity. It is not neccesary to
treat.
|
Mites: |
So far
neither mites nor symptoms were observed. It is not necessary to
treat.
|
Altica: |
In a previous
phytosanitary warning we have reported the presence of Altica
quercetorum in our monitoring plot in O Condado. In this week we have
observed new symptoms and an increase in the area affected by the crisomellyd.
Plants need to be inspected to check for symptoms.
|
APPLE TREE |
Apple
scab: |
The treatments
applied following the recommendations of the previous phytosanitary warning
have restrained the evolution of the disease. Anyway, plants should be
monitored since conditions are still favorable for the
development of the pathogen and fruit development could be affected.
|
Oidium: |
We have observed new shoots with oidium, which was favoured by
the current environmental conditions. It is necessary to
treat.
|
Cydia
pomonella: |
The
captures of the codling moth in our monitoring plots did not reach the
threshold of tolerance.
|
Aphids: |
As it was
recommended, the applications performed have eradicated the rosy apple aphid
colonies, and prevented the occurrence of new ones. From now on, we must
choose innocuous insecticides for the beneficial organisms since Eriosoma
lanigerum, the parasitoid of the wooly apple aphid, has clearly become
active and presents large populations in this year.
