PHYTOSANITARY WARNING

25/06/2009

GRAPEVINE Phenological stage: Fruit set- Pea-sized grains
Mildew:Ver Fotos

The disease is more widespread in all areas, untreated plants show abundant symptoms (also in berries) and even in recently treated grapevines new spots have appeared. Plants should be monitored although they are protected by a previous treatment and apply immediately to avoid the dissemination of the disease in case symptoms appear.

Oidium:Ver Fotos

New symptoms were not observed. However, monitoring should be maintained.

Moths:Ver Fotos

In some of our monitoring plots Lobesia botrana captures recorded during this week were higher (also those recorded for Eupoecilia ambigüella in a site). This situation, together with the almost absence of captures recorded during the last week, is indicative of the initiation of the second generation flight, since they can cause severe damage. So far, it is not necessary to treat, but monitoring should be increased.

Green mosquito and other cicadellidae:Ver Fotos

Few insects were captured in the traps. It is not necessary to treat.

Mites:Ver Fotos

No signs of red spider and rust mite attack were observed, both in our monitoring plots and on the samples submitted to our centre. However, monitoring should be maintained.

APPLE TREE
Scab:Ver Fotos

First spots of apple scabIn spite of the high temperatures recorded during the past days, during most nights moisture was observed on leaves, which favoured the apparition of new spots. It is necessary to treat.

Cydia pomonella:Ver Fotos

The number of insects captured in the traps placed in our monitoring plots was reduced. However, we are in a stage in which larvae can still penetrate the fruits, thus in case a specific surveillance is not carried out, it is advised to keep the plants protected.

Red spider:Ver Fotos

Aspecto bronceado de las plantas por ataque de araña rojaBoth in our monitoring plots and in samples submitted to our laboratory, we detected mite populations, due to favourable climatic conditions. Plants should be treated in case plants show the typical bronzed colour caused by this pest.

MAIZE
Wireworms:

In several areas in Galicia, we are observing the effects of this coleoptera attack on growing plants. In case they are detected, 25 or 48% clorpiriphos should be sprayed, being this an active ingredient registered for use by the Ministry to control these insects once plants are established.
