Since April 16th, 2007 the Estación Fitopatolóxica belonging to the Diputación Provincial de Pontevedra became an Associate Unit of the Misión Biológica de Galicia, institute within the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (Higher Council of Scientific Research). This scientific and technical association achieved after long negociations and cooperation between the managers of both institutions, Dr. Rosa A. Malvar manager of the Misión Biológica and Dr. Pedro Mansilla, manager of the Estación Fitopatolóxica, was recently approved and signed by both sides. Presently, in the Year of Science, when efforts are directed towards the creation of solid scientific organizational structures, this association has achieved a significant meaning, specially for Pontevedra city, that will proudly show, a synergy between two important scientific and technical research institutes. It is of crucial importance to inform our citizens of every progress made on Science and technology, such as the strengthening of our research and development structures by means of the association between the Misión Biológica and the Estación Fitopatolóxica. Definitely, we are facing a new horizon for agricultural and forestry research, with a participant totally involved: the people of Pontevedra.
